K-12 International Resource Library
The K-12 International Resource Library houses an array of videos, activity books, cultural artifacts and other teaching tools with international content suitable for K-12 classrooms. Library materials are intended to assist educators in providing meaningful and substantive resources to enrich international learning.

Eligible Borrowers
Educators from any public or private school in North Carolina may borrow materials. Other eligible borrows include UNC-CH faculty, staff, students, alumni and residents of North Carolina. However, educators and Carolina Navigators presenters will be given first priority. All borrowers must fill out and return our Lending Agreement form before borrowing materials.

Lending Policies
Materials are available free of charge (including return postage if materials are received by mail) and may be borrowed for 30 days, but may be recalled after two weeks for a borrower of priority. Materials not returned by the assigned due date will accrue fines of $0.50 per day to a maximum overdue fine of $15.00. Items still not returned 30 days after the due date will be assumed lost and borrowers will be charged a fine of $100.00. If the lost item is returned, the borrower will be charged only for the $15.00 overdue fine. Fines may be paid at the Davis Library Circulation Desk on the UNC-CH campus. Materials may be renewed for two week intervals, provided they have not been requested by other borrowers. Up to five items may be borrowed at a time.

To Request an Item
Before reserving an item from our library, borrowers must first fill out a Lending Agreement form. You will receive an email confirmation once we have received your agreement and then requested materials may be borrowed. To request a library item, please use our Library Request form. We will need to know the title of the item you are requesting. Requests for materials should be received at least two weeks before your intended usage date.

Search for Materials
The K-12 resource library can be searched through the UNC-CH library's online catalogue system. Choose "LC Subject" in the drop-down search box and enter “K-12” in the search field to access our holdings. Material titles are sorted by country. Titles pertaining to multiple countries or global issues are listed under the heading "global." To view a detailed listing of the materials available for each country, click on the country name hyperlink in blue.

Browse Culture Kits
Culture Kits are a collection of tangible items from a country brought to us by international and UNC-CH travelers. Each item is accompanied by a description highlighting the item's use or significance. These kits are especially practical for elementary students who have a greater need to touch and see items in order to learn, but are applicable to other grade levels as well. Click the link above to browse through our culture kits by world region. A picture and sampling of items contained in each kit is described.

Borrowers may also physically browse materials during business hours at the Center for Global Initiatives located in the FedEx Global Education Center at 301 Pittsboro St. If possible please call before visiting to ensure staff will be available to assist you.
