Teacher and Student Feedback

"This is just a note to say thank you very much for giving your [Indian dance] presentation to my classes. My students really enjoyed it. This I know as a couple of students approached me later in the day upset because they had missed your presentation. Apparently the word amongst the students was that it was something that was not to be missed. Further, given the number of questions, and that they were willing to stay after the bell to hear more really says something of just how good your presentation was...I so appreciate your taking the time and energy to come and teach us. If you are around next year I plan on asking you to spend a whole day with us, as my students did not want you to leave."

"Thank you for giving us four wonderful presentations. Our students and staff are very grateful that you shared your experiences and music with us. For many of us, living through your experiences will be the closest we will get to visiting the Andes. Your presentation has given us fresh insights and connections to the Andean way of life and culture. Your joy and enthusiasm in performing Andean music was contagious. I was pleased to see our students spellbound by your many talents. Thank you for taking the time out of your busy lives to share with our students. I hope that you will inspire them to want to travel outside of our small world. Your presentation has broadened their world view and brought us much pleasure."

"What a wonderful way to teach children about other cultures and lifestyles! We sincerely appreciated your visit to our class. My message to the children in the class this year is to understand similarities and differences among children all over the world. You did such a terrific job reinforcing this message. Thanks again for spending the morning with us. Good luck to you and your organization!"

"On behalf of the faculty, staff, boys and girls of Lillian Black Elementary, I want to express my appreciation to you for assisting us in celebrating Multiculture Month on Feb. 23rd. Sharing a part of your culture enlightened our children with excitement. Rarely do we experience the uniqueness each individual culture has to offerChildren need to touch, smell, and see before they can actually grasp the concept. Your artifacts afforded them that opportunityEveryone continues to talk about your presentation today. Please come back again and do plan to stay longer."

"Thank you for visiting our class and telling us about Japan. I loved wearing the kimono and sandals. Thank you for teaching us some origami. The (Japanese) toys are neat! You’ve taught me so much that I want to go to Japan someday."

"Thank you for coming to visit our school. I really enjoyed your presentation about the Middle East. Having a person that actually lived in and experiences the Middle East was cool. Your slides really gave me an idea of what you were describing. The small excerpt of music also helped me out. Again, thanks for your time!"

"I am writing to thank you on behalf of the Johnston County Board of Education for the outreach services you have provided to the teachers and students in our school system this academic year. I think this level of service is wonderfulall of the feedback that I have received from the teachers, students, and principals concerning the presentations has been entirely positive. Teachers were very enthusiastic about the quality of the presentation(s), and I was most impressed with the responses of the 7th grade students. Their questions showed clearly that they were thinking and making connections. I look forward to working with you during the (next) academic year in providing in-service opportunities for our grades 6-12 social studies teachers."

"Thank you so much for sending Meiko and Yuki to Lakewood Elementary for the Japanese presentation. They were wonderful! They interacted well with the kids and kept them engaged for the entire presentation. More importantly, Yuki and Meiko offered our students an authentic and relevant learning opportunity that truly enhanced their understanding of the existence of different cultures throughout the world. Definitely expect to hear from us again."

The teachers and students of Tabernacle Elementary School wish to thank you so much for arranging the wonderful presentation of musical instruments from the Andes.
