Matching Funds
Deadline: Ongoing
Program Purpose:
As a catalyst for the innovative work of faculty and students at UNC, the Center for Global Initiatives welcomes proposals seeking support for projects that deepen knowledge and understanding of our complex world.
Eligibility and Restrictions:
In order to be eligible for funding, projects must:
- demonstrate a matching financial commitment from at least one other unit on campus;
- involve a project that is organized by a person or unit affiliated with UNC and
- involve a project that takes place on campus or in the surrounding community.
Preference is given to proposals that involve more than one department or school in order to encourage interdisciplinary work and to proposals that engage faculty, students and staff.
Available Funding:
Funding for matching projects will not often exceed $250. We strongly discourage using funds to purchase food.
Application:
To apply for this award, please submit the following materials via the Center for Global Initiatives' online application center:
- A 2 page double-spaced narrative describing your project.
- A brief resume or curriculum vitae.
- A budget that outlines expenses. Please identify matching funds in your budget.
Narratives and other required documents can only be uploaded into our online application in PDF format. If you do not have access to Adobe Acrobat and you are unable to convert documents to PDF format, visit http://www.freepdfconvert.com/ or http://www.bullzip.com/ for examples of free software.
On page three of the online application, please indicate the contact information of the person offering the match for these funds.
Notification of Award:
Applicants will receive award or rejection notices via email 1-2 weeks after submitting an application. Please do not contact the Center for Global Initiatives to inquire about the status of your application during this time frame. However, if you have not received a notice 3 weeks after you submit your application, please let us know.
Reporting Requirements:
If you receive this award, you will be required to submit a final report at the conclusion of the project using the Center for Global Initiatives' Online Reporting System. This system collects narratives and data about funded projects to enable the Center to determine whether its programmatic purposes are being met.
To apply for this award, please fill out the Center for Global Initiatives' Online Application.
