CFK James and Florence Peacock Fellowship

Application Deadline: November 4, 2011 at 5:00 pm EST

Purpose

The Carolina for Kibera Fellowship offers graduate and undergraduate students at UNC-CH the opportunity to apply their skills and talents while engaging in grassroots participatory development in the Kibera slum of Nairobi, Kenya.  This year-long experience allows students to contribute to CFK programs on the ground in Kibera, working with CFK in the U.S. and Kenya.  Collaborating with CFK Staff, fellows develop a project in the U.S. during the spring semester, travel to Kibera over the summer to implement the project, and wrap up the project in the U.S., during the fall semester.

Please find more information, including eligibility and application instructions on the CFK Website.

Carolina for Kibera is an affiliated entity of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a program of the Center for Global Initiatives.  Carolina for Kibera fights abject poverty and helps prevent violence through youth-focused, community-driven development in the Kibera slum of Nairobi, Kenya.  Our four core programs empower the youth of Kibera, promote ethnic and gender cooperation, and provide healthcare, education, and employment opportunities throughout Kibera.
