Katherine (Kitty) Stalberg joined the Center for Global Initiatives in 2009 as Program Coordinator for the Scholars’ Latino Initiative.   She is an alumnus of UNC-Chapel Hill, with degrees in Music and Anthropology, and also did graduate work in music therapy at the Catholic University in Washington, D.C.   Following a Peace Corps assignment in Ecuador, Kitty spent 13 years as a program officer with the Partners of the Americas, Inc. in Washington, D.C.   She later worked as a Hazard Mitigation Specialist for FEMA as well as the State of California Office of Emergency Services.  Kitty relocated to N.C. in the mid-nineties where she continued her involvement with the NC-Cochabamba Partners of the Americas and served as the Director of Programs for the NC Society of Hispanic Professionals.
