Tara Muller is a 2002 graduate of the University of NorthCarolina at Chapel Hill where she received double Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Journalism with a concentration in public relations. In 1997, Tara spent a year as an American Field Service exchange student in Switzerland where she lived with a host family in the Alps and learned to speak German. After her eyes were opened to the world around her, Tara 's love for travel and experiencing other cultures and traditions has only grown. After earning her BA degree, she traveled to Thailand and Southeast Asia for a four-month journey with a UNC-CH Francis Phillips Travel Scholarship. She has also visited Malawi, Zambia, Botswana and South Africa through World Camp for Kids, a student led organization she helped to organize in 2000. She joined the Center for Global Initiatives staff in May 2003.
A native of North Carolina,, Tara is happy to be working with a program where she can put her education and international experience to use by giving back to the public schools of her home state as the K-12 International Outreach Program Coordinator. Tara coordinates international classroom presentations free of charge for school children across the state to enrich their curriculum and bring a taste of the outside world into the classrooms of North Carolina. She is excited about sharing her fervor for international education with NC school children.
Other interests include snowboarding, scuba diving, camping and HIV/AIDS prevention and education.
